Arambam’s purpose is to provide free, high-quality education to children in need to make a step-change in their educational attainment and future prospects. Our program addresses key obstacles that can hinder a child's ability to learn, offering free education, daily nutritious meals and school uniforms.

The core of our mission is our integrated educational approach, specifically designed to empower first-generation learners, focussing on the holistic development of every child. We utilise bilingual instruction to bridge the language gap, ensuring students build strong foundational skills. A key focus is cultivating bold communicators through structured activities and public speaking opportunities.

We welcome contributions to help us provide free, quality education and daily meals to those in need.

The School Meal at Arambam

Good nutrition is vital for the overall development of children. At Arambam, all our students are provided with a nutritious balanced lunch, cooked fresh everyday. Milk and an egg are added to the meal everyday to ensure adequate protein, minerals and vitamins are provided.

A Note from Our Director

Arambam means ‘The beginning’ in Tamil. It seemed an apt name for this school that caters to socially and economically underprivileged children. A school is where life begins for many students. We now know from various studies that progress or stagnation is often decided by the quality of time the child spends at school. Our goal at The Arambam School is to provide high quality education that creates a step change improvement in the long term prospects of our students, where they can compete and succeed at the same level as some of their more economically fortunate counterparts We are fortunate to have an incredible team of volunteers and senior staff to design and monitor the programme on the ground. We also have funders who have contributed to Arambam generously. Our special thanks to Dr. Frank Steinhoff from Vivus GMBH, who encouraged us and contributed significantly to the setting up of the school. Our sincere thanks to Dr. LM Ramakrishnan, Mrs. Aruna Ramakrishnan, Mrs. Karthiyayini and Mrs. Philomena from the BVB Erode Schools for their support in so many ways. There are many others who have contributed to this effort. We thank all of them for their generosity - a generosity of time and skill on the part of some and through the contribution of funds by others. We have started the Arambam School in June 2022 and we will work to deliver concrete outcomes for the children and their families who have placed their faith in us.
